The Jazz Gallery Presents: Charles Altura Double Drum Quintet

Whether playing in Terrence Blanchard’s E-Collective or with one of his talented peers, guitarist Charles Altura is a beloved sideman. With a tone both rich and acidic, Altura’s playing is by turns flexible and supportive.

At The Jazz Gallery, Altura has frequently stepped out as a leader, and this week, the Gallery is pleased to present Altura’s combustible double drum quintet. With Eric Harland and Johnathan Blake in the mix—drummers well-experienced in double drum bands—this quintet is sure to unleash music of rare intensity.

Before coming out the Gallery, check out Altura playing with the E-Collective and Turtle Island String Quartet at SFJazz last month.

The Charles Altura Double Drum Quintet plays The Jazz Gallery on Wednesday, September 21, and Thursday, September 22, 2022. The group features Mr. Altura on guitar, Micah Thomas (9/21) or Gadi Lehavi (9/22) on piano, Harish Raghavan on bass, and Eric Harland and Johnathan Blake on drums. Sets are at 7:30 and 9:30 P.M. E.D.T each night. $30 general admission ($10 for members), $40 reserved cabaret seating ($20 for members) for each set. Purchase tickets here.
