Watch: Pedro Giraudo and the "Expansions" Big Band

Photo via http://pedrogiraudo.comDownBeat Magazine has praised Pedro Giraudo's Jazz Orchestra as "lithe and light on its feet [with] the leader’s highly active bass and his movement-filled arrangements.” We're pleased to have the bassist and composer bring an expanded version of his Jazz Orchestra to our stage for two nights this week, Thursday and Friday, October 10th and 11th. Pedro is no stranger to The Jazz Gallery, having composed a new work for large ensemble on commission from us in 2008, and he performed on our stage with his "Expansions" Big Band last September. A big band in a moderately-sized room is truly a sight to behold, so take a listen if you haven't had the opportunity to explore Pedro's large ensemble work (additional clips are available here and here):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZdA7SMBMOIPedro Giraudo and the "Expansions" Big Band perform at The Jazz Gallery this Thursday and Friday, October 10th and 11th, with Alejandro Aviles, Todd Bashore, Luke Batson, John Ellis, and Carl Maraghi on reeds; Tatum Greenblatt, Miki Hirose, Mat Jodrell, and Josh Deutsch on trumpets and flugelhorns; Ryan Keberle, Mike Fahie, Mark Miller, and Nate Mayland on trombones; and Jess Jurkovic (piano), Franco Pinna (drums), and Paulo Stagnaro (percussion).
