The Jazz Gallery Presents: Tomas Fujiwara's 7 Poets

For one night of his Stone residency in spring 2018, drummer Tomas Fujiwara convened a new trio with vibraphonist Patricia Brennan and cellist Tomeka Reid. Called 7 Poets Trio, the group explored newly-composed music inspired by the instruments’ large timbral contrast and the players’ distinct personalities. The trio then recorded these works in the studio, resulting in an eponymous debut released in 2019.

This week, Fujiwara, Reid, and Brennan return to The Jazz Gallery with another new set of compositions to be recorded. Across two nights, the band is sure to find surprising concoctions of light and shade.

Tomas Fujiwara’s 7 Poets Trio plays The Jazz Gallery on Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13, 2023. The group features Mr. Fujiwara on drums, Patrician Brennan on vibraphone, and Tomeka Reid on cello. Sets are at 7:30 and 9:30 P.M.
