The Jazz Gallery Presents: Russell Hall and The Brethren

As a bassist, Russell Hall sits in that sought-after collaborative sweet spot. His playing is versatile and supportive, yet never content to sit on the sidelines. Earlier this year at The Jazz Gallery, Hall joined Tyshawn Sorey, Aaron Diehl, and Greg Osby for a week of surreal takes on standards. This Thursday, Hall returns to the Gallery stage as a leader with a trio featuring pianist Miki Yamanaka and drummer Claudio Silva.

Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Hall has been working on new original music to help celebrate 60 years of Jamaican independence. Before coming out to here Hall’s new music, you can stream his 2019 debut The Feeling of Romance, below.

Russell Hall plays The Jazz Gallery on Thursday, July, 7, 2022. The group features Mr. Hall on bass, Miki Yamanaka on piano, and Claudio Silva on drums. Sets are at 7:30 and 9:30 P.M.
