The Jazz Gallery Presents: Rasmus Sørenson

Pianist Rasmus Sørenson’s debut trio album Traits from this past year reflects his international musical journey. The album was recorded in Aarhus, Denmark, not far from where Sørenson grew up, while the cover is a photograph taken under the Riverside Drive Viaduct, just a couple of blocks north of the Manhattan School of Music where Sørenson studied.

This week, Sørenson makes his Jazz Gallery debut as a leader, convening a trio with bassist Ben Tiberio and drummer Miguel Russell. The group is likely to mine from Sørenson’s sleek yet bouncy original compositions from Traits, giving them a new vantage point.

The Rasmus Sørenson Trio plays The Jazz Gallery on Wednesday, February 7, 2023. The group features Mr. Sørenson on piano, Ben Tiberio on bass, and Miguel Russell on drums. Sets are at 7:30 and 9:30 P.M. E.S.T. $20 general admission (FREE for members), $30 reserved cabaret seating ($20 for members), $20 livestream access (FREE for members) for each set.
