This Friday, trumpeter/flugelhornist Milena Casado makes her debut on The Jazz Gallery stage. Originally from Spain, Casado came to the US in 2016 to study at Berklee. In addition to studying with Sean Jones and Nicholas Payton, Casado was active in Berklee’s Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. Check out Casado going toe-to-toe with an all-star band at the institute’s release of their New Standards e-book.

At the Gallery this weekend, Casado has convened a multi-generational ensemble to perform a new suite, Reflection of another self. Casado say the piece…

…portrays my process of self-discovery and self-acceptance, as it has evolved particularly in this past year. It is a combination of music and poetry with which I hope to explore ways of freeing ourselves—of understanding who we are.

Alongside collaborators of great aesthetic range, Casado’s music will surely showcase the many sides to her personality and music.

The Jazz Gallery presents Milena Casado’s Reflection of another self on Friday, April 29, 2022. The group features.
