The Jazz Gallery Presents: Joshua Crumbly Group

This Wednesday, May 3rd, The Jazz Gallery is proud to present bassist Joshua Crumbly and his group on our stage. From the moment Crumbly arrived in New York in 2009 to study at Juilliard, he became an in-demand sideman on both upright and electric, joining Terrence Blanchard's quintet in 2010. Since then, Crumbly has also held down the bass chair in groups lead by Ravi Coltrane, Kamasi Washington, Anthony Wilson, and Stefon Harris. Check out Crumbly playing with Harris at Dizzy's last fall below, nailing every metric modulation in the band's sleek arrangement of Horace Silver's "Cape Verdean Blues," and opening up on a lyrical solo around the 20 minute mark.Crumbly has recently begun to step out more as a leader and has a debut record in the can. His working group reflects his versatility across acoustic and electric media, featuring two keyboardists and saxophonist Casey Benjamin of the Robert Glasper Experiment.
