Senri Oe Record Release: Answer July

After spending over twenty-five years as a successful singer/songwriter/actor/radio host in his native Japan, Senri Oe made an unusual life change—he moved to New York City to study jazz piano at the New School. Since his graduation, Oe has become a prominent bandleader, playing regularly at Tomi Jazz in Midtown and releasing three records under his own name.This Tuesday, July 5th, Oe returns to The Jazz Gallery to celebrate the release of his newest album, Answer July (PND Records). Answer July features a slate of new tunes with music by Oe and lyrics by vocal master Jon Hendricks, performed by a cast of top vocalists including NEA Jazz Master Sheila Jordan, Lauren Kinhan, and Sachal Vasandani. Mr. Oe, piano, will be joined by Jim Robertson on bass, and vocalists Sheila Jordan, Laura Kinhan, Ella Marcus, Travon Anderson, Sachal Vasandani, Joe Brandenburger, Kim Foxen, Taylor Hildack, Yuyu Feng, Ceren Yasaroglu, and Mamiko Taira.
