This Friday and Saturday, April 8th and 9th, The Jazz Gallery is excited to present a very special series of concerts featuring saxophonist Lee Konitz and pianist Dan Tepfer. This cross-generational duo exhibits an uncommonly deep connection, making their music feel less like in-the-moment interplay and more like something conceived of a single mind. In the video below, Tepfer describes how he and Konitz met and how they’ve developed as musical partners over the past several years.
Also, if you haven’t checked out the pair’s standout 2009 album Duos With Lee (Sunnyside), now’s the time to take a break and give the tracks below a good listen.
If the uncanny coordination of the music and Tepfer’s word isn’t enough to show you the bond these two musicians have, then this game of table tennis should be.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see such beautiful musical spontaneity in an intimate setting.
