This past March, drummer Eric Doob gave his Jazz Gallery début as a leader; prior to that, we had watched his development on the Gallery stage, working with artists such as Miguel Zenón, Matthew StevensAlex BrownPedro Giraudo and others. This Thursday, Eric will be joined by Alex Brown on piano, Matthew Stevens on guitar, and Harish Raghavan on bass. For those who haven’t had the chance to hear Eric play, we’ve selected several choice videos from YouTube.

The first clip is “Big Kick Blues,” performed by Ryan Keberle’s pianoless quartet Catharsis, with whom Eric played here back in July. Next up is an arrangement of “Just One of Those Things,” performed at the Blue Note with the Alex Brown Quartet (Alex will be joining Eric for this Thursday’s performance). Last is a trio performance of a composition entitled “Ashes,” featuring Ben Williams on bass and Matthew Stevens on guitar (Matthew will also be joining Eric on Thursday).

The Eric Doob Quartet performs at The Jazz Gallery this Thursday, September 5th, with Alex Brown (piano), Matthew Stevens (guitar), and Harish Raghavan (bass). Sets at 9 and 10:30 p.m., $15 general admission and $10 for Members (first set); $10 general admission and $5 for Members (second set). Purchase tickets here.
